What I think about while I’m running

Yes the title of this piece do seem familiar. Its taken from the title of Haruki Murakami’s iconic book on running, where Murakami reviews his writing, his running and how these two things intersect to form a big part of his life. An exceptionally enjoyable and inspirational read.

When I am on a run, my mind sometimes goes off on its own tangent. The body is on auto pilot, the soft thud thud of running shoes hitting the ground echoes the cadence of a rhythmic drum, the mind however roams free. Some times the problems that need solving at work, works itself out. I see scenarios and alternatives emerging and by the time I finish my run a rough idea of a plan has been etched, leaving me to flesh out the details in the office the following day.

Other times its simple frivolity that occupies the mind. From madcap plot for a novel, which never did see pen to paper to trying to write a figure of 8 on a map. And today I am sharing some of these. And as I  sieve through my archives I will come back here to add to these gems I share today.

The Animalist – the novel that never got off the tree trunk

So go for a run, let the mind go free and be amazed at what you might be able to think of.

Or maybe just think of this.
